How Gemita Injection works
Gemita 1000mg/62.5mg Injection is a combination of two medicines: Gemcitabine and Mannitol. gemcitabine how it works Gemcitabine interferes with the growth of DNA and RNA of the cancer cells by substituting their building blocks. It prevents the cancer cells from growing and multiplying. Mannitol is an inert substance with high osmotic pressure. It draws water into the kidney, which in turn increases the amount of urine production. Mannitol is also used to lower the pressure inside the eye or swelling around the brain.

It is advised not to miss any dose. If you missed any dose, you should contact your doctorimmediately.

Warnings for special population
Pregnancy – This medicine is not recommended for pregnant women.
Breast-feeding – This medicine is not recommended in breastfeeding women.
Liver injury – This medicine may cause liver injury and causes death. The liver function parameters need to be assessed before starting the treatment gemcitabine . The treatment should be discontinued if any signs and symptoms of liver injury appear.
Kidney injury – This medicine may cause Hemolytic Uremic Syndrome (HUS) which is a serious condition that causes fatalities. The kidney function parameters need to be assessed before starting the treatment. The treatment should be discontinued if any signs and symptoms of kidney injury appear.
Lung toxicity – This medicine may cause severe lung injuries like pulmonary fibrosis, pulmonary interstitial infiltrates. Any symptoms of breathing difficulty and signs of lung impairment should be informed to the doctor. The treatment should be discontinued if any symptoms appear.
