What is Tasigna 200mg?

Doctors use Tasigna 200mg Capsule in the treatment of some kinds of chronic myeloid leukemia (CML). The drug belongs to the group of medicines which are called kinase inhibitors. It functions by reducing the action of protein that helps in the multiplication of cancer cells, as a result the drug controls the spread of cancer.

The drug is available in the form of a capsule and should be taken before a meal, about 2 times in a day. The drug works best if the doses are taken after every 12 hours. The capsule should be swallowed entirely. Crushing or chewing it will make it less effective.

Uses of Tasigna Capsule

Tasigna 200mg uses isĀ  in the treatment of blood cancer (Chronic myeloid leukaemia). It is used in patients whose disease could not be treated with other medications for leukaemia or who cannot take these medications because of side effects.

Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. Tasigna 200 mg Capsule is to be taken empty stomach.

Tasigna 200 mg Capsule is an anti-cancer medication. It works by blocking the action of the abnormal protein that signals cancer cells to multiply. This helps to stop or slow the spread of cancer cells.

Dosage

What happens if I miss a dose?

Take the missed dose as soon as you remember. Skip the missed dose if it is almost time for your next scheduled dose. Do not take extra medicine to make up the missed dose.

Seek emergency medical attention or call the Poison Help line at 1-800-222-1222.

nilotinib overdose symptoms may include drowsiness and vomiting.

Precautions

Before taking nilotinib, tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are allergic to it; or to lactose/galactose; or if you have any other allergies. This product may contain inactive ingredients, which can cause allergic reactions or other problems. Talk to your pharmacist for more details.

Before using this medication, tell your doctor or pharmacist your medical history, especially of: liver disease, pancreatitis, heart disease (such as coronary artery disease, chest pain, heart attack), high blood pressure, high cholesterol, diabetes, stroke (including “mini-strokes” or transient ischemic attacks), blood circulation disease (peripheral arterial disease), blood vessel disease (hardening of the arteries/atherosclerosis), stomach surgery (such as gastrectomy).

What should I avoid while taking Tasigna?

Grapefruit and grapefruit juice may interact with nilotinib and lead to unwanted side effects. Avoid the use of grapefruit products while taking tasigna nilotinib 200mg price.

Avoid taking a stomach acid reducer (such as Pepcid, Tagamet, or Zantac) within 10 hours before or 2 hours after you take Tasigna.

Avoid taking an antacid (such as Di-Gel, Gaviscon, Maalox, Milk of Magnesia, Mylanta, or Rolaids) within 2 hours before or 2 hours after you take Tasigna.

Nilotinib can pass into body fluids (urine, feces, vomit). Caregivers should wear rubber gloves while cleaning up a patient’s body fluids, handling contaminated trash or laundry or changing diapers. Wash hands before and after removing gloves. Wash soiled clothing and linens separately from other laundry.
